2023 Impact:

  • 332,000 people using an MSI-provided method of contraception
  • 53,000 unsafe abortions averted

Since 2014, MSI Niger has provided high-quality reproductive healthcare, including contraception and lifesaving care after unsafe abortion. We began outreach services at the request of the Nigerian Ministry of Health, and have since expanded to a network of centers, outreach teams, and MSI Ladies, mobile midwives who visit women in rural communities.

Niger is facing daunting challenges as one of the poorest countries in the world.  With 50% of their population under the age of 15, their young demographics give Niger some of the highest fertility and maternal mortality rates in the region.

Support from generous US donors funds our efforts in Niger, and we’re working closely with the government to increase the contraceptive prevalence rate.
