Today, MSI’s lifesaving work is made possible by thousands of people like you who share our commitment to reproductive freedom for all women, everywhere. With your support, our team of over 9,000 staff members across 36 countries can provide reproductive and sexual healthcare to millions of women where others can’t.
If you’re ready to join us, you can make a gift at any time on our website. You can also call us at (202) 601-2825 to donate over the phone or with any questions about our work. We can be reached by email at usdonations@msichoices.org.
How is my donation used?
Your donation becomes part of our Blue Door Fund, which was established to ensure that funding goes where it is most needed. Each country program applies internally to the fund, and these funds primarily support mobile outreach teams and efforts to strengthen the government provision of contraception, safe abortion and other reproductive health services in the countries where we work. This is important work that reaches millions of women that isn’t commercially self-sustaining. Donations to the Blue Door Fund help us respond to unexpected challenges and direct donor support to projects that will have the biggest impact.
How is my donation secured?
MSI United States uses appropriate industry-standard encryption for transmission of credit card information to help keep your information secure, accurate, current and complete.
All transactions are SSL protected. Our donation platform is a PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the highest grade of payment processing security

Is this donation tax deductible?
Yes! MSI United States is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations to MSI US are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
Is MSI United States eligible for a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from my Individual Retirement Account (IRA)?
Unfortunately, MSI United States is not currently eligible to receive Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs). That’s because MSI US is a supporting organization for MSI Reproductive Choices, and the IRS has determined that contributions to supporting organizations aren’t eligible for the added tax benefit of a QCD.
You can make a contribution to MSI US from your IRA or an inherited IRA, but this will be considered as a taxable event. You would first make a withdrawal from your IRA and then contribute to MSI US (Tax ID: 54-1901882). The income you withdraw will be included in your taxable income for the year.
As a 501(c)3, contributions made to MSI United States are tax deductible. We recommend speaking with your financial advisor for more information on required minimum distributions from your IRA and the tax benefits of contributing IRA distribution funds.

Can I donate from Canada?
MSI US has partnered with the KBF CANADA Foundation to support our work providing reproductive choice in the Sahel region. Canadian donors who wish to support MSI can donate through the KBF CANADA Foundation webpage.
Does MSI provide services in the US?
MSI Reproductive Choices does not provide healthcare services in the United States. At MSI United States, we work to mobilize support for women and girls worldwide and inform Americans about global issues in sexual and reproductive health and rights. Our program in Mexico is increasing access to choice along the US border, with new clinics in Tijuana and Cancun. Our blue doors are open to all US Americans looking to exercise reproductive choice.
What does MSI stand for?
MSI was founded in 1976 when Dr. Tim Black, Jean Black and Phil Harvey took over the Marie Stopes’ ‘Mothers Clinic’ in central London and decided to name their new women’s reproductive health organization Marie Stopes International in recognition of the historic building’s origins and after Marie Stopes herself.
Marie Stopes was a pioneer of family planning; however, she expressed opinions which are in stark contrast to our organization’s core values and principles and we decided to change our name in 2020, We kept MSI in our name because those initials are recognized in the communities we serve as a safe, trusted resource for reproductive and sexual healthcare. Our new name, MSI Reproductive Choices, intentionally breaks our connection to Marie Stopes and puts choice front and center.
