MSI United States Welcomes Three New Board Members at Critical Moment in Reproductive Health and Rights History

MSI United States is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its board. Joining the board in November are:
Kristi Mahoney, Program Officer for Reproductive Health and Rights at the WestWind Foundation, where she has managed reproductive health and rights grants for the last 15 years. Kristi brings to the MSI Board a depth and breadth of understanding about the SRHR landscape from her experience with a portfolio of 30 different groups who work to advance and advocate for women’s health around the world. When asked what she hoped to achieve on the Board, Kristi said: “MSI does such important work all around the world, my hope is to help bring brand awareness here in the US of the important role they are playing overseas.” Kristi holds a Master of Public Health from Tufts University, has a background in business administration and holds degrees in marketing and French from Lehigh University. She also serves on the Advisory Council of the Vincent Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at MGH.
Jill Parker joins MSI’s Board from the West Coast with 30+ years of experience in strategic planning, marketing, and development across the for-profit and non-profit sectors. She has been deeply involved in the field of reproductive health care and rights, including serving as Director of Foundation and Corporate Strategy at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. Jill said: “I have been inspired by the commitment of MSI’s team and the effectiveness of its work, and I look forward to helping to preserve and expand access to contraception and safe abortion care in the many countries it serves.” Jill’s career includes stints at Merrill Lynch and American Express and she has served on numerous non-profit boards, primarily in the field of education. Jill holds a BA in East Asian Studies (China) from Yale University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Lisa Valone brings valuable experience working across a wide range of philanthropic interests to the MSI US board. Lisa is a founding member of Mercy Corps’ Women’s Climate Alliance which supports women in climate-vulnerable regions lead advances in adaptive solutions. As a member of Women Moving Millions, she leads the effort to educate and expand international philanthropy among members. Lisa has been a board member of Health Equity International, which provides healthcare in Haiti, and the 1000 Women Leaders Campaign of the UN’s Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund. She said: “In my experience working with a diverse array of INGO’s, the single most effective way to improve the lives of women, families and communities is allowing women and girls to have agency for if, when and how many children they want to have. MSI’s programs and mission are clearly aligned and I am proud to be a part of this organization.”
Lisa has a BA from Pomona College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She lives outside of Boston, MA and enjoys spending time with her family and amazing women who share her passion for supporting gender equity locally and globally.
In welcoming the three new members, Amanda Seller, President of MSI United States said: “We are entering a period of unprecedented challenges to a woman’s right to choose for herself if and when to have a child—both here in the United States and abroad. The insights and experience of these three accomplished women will be invaluable to MSI as we navigate our way forward.”
