2023 Impact:

  • 2,446,000 people using an MSI-provided method of contraception
  • 375,000 unsafe abortions averted

Since 1993, MSI Uganda has provided high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive healthcare services throughout the country.

MSI Uganda is focused on reaching the country’s poorest and most marginalized—from women in far-flung rural communities to poor women living in urban areas. Our outreach teams travel long distances to bring contraception, STI and HIV testing, care after unsafe abortion, , and other services directly to women in hard-to-reach communities. We also work closely with the Ministry of Health to train providers at government health centers across the country.

Religious and cultural barriers can prevent women in Uganda from accessing contraception. That’s why we’ve created a wide network of MSI Ladies—mobile midwives, trained and supported by MSI, who provide services in their homes or in clients’ homes. Their discreet, culturally-sensitive, and affordable services are particularly effective for reaching young women and women living in restrictive environments.
